iPhone OS 3.0 release imminent

by Martin on May.15, 2009, under General, Mobile Blogging, iPhone

iPhone OS 3.0With a little over 3 weeks to go before the final release OS 3.0 - the latest incarnation of the iPhone operating system – is available on general release, just how much can we expect from the update?

Having followed the development of the iPhone OS 3.0 on the O2 network, through our Apple Developer account, I can say that Ive been fairly impressed with both the increase in features and the stability of the Beata releases so far.

The “expiration” of the betas has been an annoyance as a stable beta is, generally speaking, just as usable as the finished article.  With the upgrade process at an average of 3 hours (if you include a backup after the restore) could have been avoided on a biweekly basis as this has been a bind in terms of business hours required.  Over all, however, the new features seem well integrated, stable and bring to the table many of the elements that iPhone users have felt should have been present from the outset.

Its truly amazing what a software update can do in terms of new functionality on the iPhone, as the hardware is more than capable of supporting all the features and functionality you’d expect from a 3rd generation smartphone.  Why some of these features were left out we can only wonder at.

The entire list of features is not yet known, and is unlikely to be general knowledge until the final version is publicly available.  The betas that have been released over the past few months have illustrated just how much more the iPhone can pack in and, indeed, just how much more there could be still to come.

Keep an eye out on 8th June for the final release and you’ll soon be enjoying MMS, Spotlight Search, Cut ‘n Paste, full Bluetooth support and Notes Sync to name just a few!

by Martin on May.06, 2009, under General, New Website, Web Design, Web Development

So, we planted the seeds for our new design some time ago and, after several months of nurturing, our new website has now grown into a fully fledged online brochure that is capable of showcasing our work, skills and services in such style that even the Chelsea Flower Show would be proud to show off…. We certainly are!

2M Mediaworks new website
The design is intended to reflect the organic nature of the work we do, whilst remaining true to our techinical roots. The website was developed with accessability and poratability in mind, ensuring that it can reach the widest possible audience.

Regular news updates, case studies, tie-ins to our blog and Twitter updates should provide a wealth of original online discussion to interest and inspire, keeping you coming back to check on our progress as we continue to grow and push past the edges of our boundaries.

With more ideas still to come, including a dedicated iPhone portal, secure client support centre and an online discussion forum for new development projects, we hope that you will stay with us for the journey and enjoy the ride…!

Flowers are Easy with SOPs

by Martin on Mar.14, 2009, under General, SEO, Web Design, Web Development

Its the SOPs treatment once again and this time it’s Easy Flower that is to reap the benefits of sowing the SOPs seads, with a full integration of our core product into the highly successful and popular online flower merchants website.

Months of development, integration and testing have lead to another successful production of the SOPs product. The integral pods for both category and location based searching have provisioned a website in excess of 1 million unique, highly-optimised pages.

These pods, a pivotal element of the SOPs pages, allow deep navigation linking between all SOPs styled pages, decreasing the over all time required for an extensive website crawl by search engine bots, whilst also increasing the visibility of the site as a whole to major search engines by providing extensive navigation avenues throughout all of the SOPs content.

This extensive indexing of the content is one of the key factors in the success of the SOPs product. The more pages that are indexd, the more targeted organic traffic will be able to find the website for specific key terms.

With over 40 thousand unique organic visitors every month from just one major search engine, there is no doubting the power of SOPs to drive an online business forward during the most comptetive times that online advertising has seen.

by Martin on Mar.10, 2009, under General, SEO, Web Design, Web Development

The latest installation of our core product, SOPs, is up and running – and this time it’s in a brand new website!

After the instant sucess of FDUs (SOPs predecessor) on the SimplifyDigital website we decided that a number of the unique features could be improved upon to enhance the SEO capabilities and further drive the success of the product and the websites into which it is integrated.

The first to benefit from these improvements is the brand new Cut Price Copiers website: www.canon-toshiba-copiers.co.uk

Initially developed as a microsite, the Cut Price Copiers website has received the full SOPs treatement and has a potential 1.8M fully SEO’d pages after phase one of the development. With the addition of the full set of core products and their consumables the site has quickly become one of the most comprehensive online suppliers of Canon and Toshiba photocopiers, fax machines and multi function devices.

With an achievable 4 million pages of products and services, across the UK, you won’t find a bigger or more dedicated website for all your office equiment needs.

Check put a Google search for an example of the awesome power of SOPs.

Growing a new design

by Martin on Mar.04, 2009, under General, New Website, Web Design

Excitment is mounting as our new website design nears completion!

Its been a challenge to marry together the technical elements of our work with the organic nature of the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) that makes up nearly half of our business.

After some careful consideration – and much tweaking – we think that we are finally nearing the finished “masterpiece”.

We hope you will all agree, when you the completed website, that the final effect is a stunning visual treat with feature-rich content, an intuitive layout that’s easy on the eye and a sensible navigation structure so you can find what you’re looking for.

Any and all feedback will be most welcome as we value the opinion of our clients highly and appreciate visitor’s comments to help us evolve the website.

Standby for further updates on the launch of the new site… We hope you’ll all enjoy it as much as we think (and hope) you will!

iPhone Blogging!

by Martin on Feb.28, 2009, under Mobile Blogging, iPhone

Just installed the WordPress App for my iPhone…! Blogging from the comfort of my own comfy arm chair seems a sensible activity to me and a logical improvement on the usual activity of making a mental note of something that I might later want to blog about, when I next happen to be infront of the laptop or the computer.

Given the iPhone’s natural ability to find a useable signal – seemingly everywhere – the power of blogging about anything, at anytime, as it happens is now very much a reality! Welcome to 24hr blogging!

by Martin on Feb.27, 2009, under General

…after a little searching, testing and general messing about with blogs and the like, 2M Mediaworks has settled on a WordPress Blog!

Widgets, Themes & Plugins galore, an easy interface and wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) editing are just some of the little touches that swayed the decision.  Add to the mix the integral blog publishing update to search engines with every post, and the as yet unexplored potential of Callbacks and Pings to enhance the reach of audience readership – why would we settle for anything less?
