iPhone OS 3.0 release imminent

by Martin on May.15, 2009, under General, Mobile Blogging, iPhone

iPhone OS 3.0With a little over 3 weeks to go before the final release OS 3.0 - the latest incarnation of the iPhone operating system – is available on general release, just how much can we expect from the update?

Having followed the development of the iPhone OS 3.0 on the O2 network, through our Apple Developer account, I can say that Ive been fairly impressed with both the increase in features and the stability of the Beata releases so far.

The “expiration” of the betas has been an annoyance as a stable beta is, generally speaking, just as usable as the finished article.  With the upgrade process at an average of 3 hours (if you include a backup after the restore) could have been avoided on a biweekly basis as this has been a bind in terms of business hours required.  Over all, however, the new features seem well integrated, stable and bring to the table many of the elements that iPhone users have felt should have been present from the outset.

Its truly amazing what a software update can do in terms of new functionality on the iPhone, as the hardware is more than capable of supporting all the features and functionality you’d expect from a 3rd generation smartphone.  Why some of these features were left out we can only wonder at.

The entire list of features is not yet known, and is unlikely to be general knowledge until the final version is publicly available.  The betas that have been released over the past few months have illustrated just how much more the iPhone can pack in and, indeed, just how much more there could be still to come.

Keep an eye out on 8th June for the final release and you’ll soon be enjoying MMS, Spotlight Search, Cut ‘n Paste, full Bluetooth support and Notes Sync to name just a few!

Flowers are Easy with SOPs

by Martin on Mar.14, 2009, under General, SEO, Web Design, Web Development

Its the SOPs treatment once again and this time it’s Easy Flower that is to reap the benefits of sowing the SOPs seads, with a full integration of our core product into the highly successful and popular online flower merchants website.

Months of development, integration and testing have lead to another successful production of the SOPs product. The integral pods for both category and location based searching have provisioned a website in excess of 1 million unique, highly-optimised pages.

These pods, a pivotal element of the SOPs pages, allow deep navigation linking between all SOPs styled pages, decreasing the over all time required for an extensive website crawl by search engine bots, whilst also increasing the visibility of the site as a whole to major search engines by providing extensive navigation avenues throughout all of the SOPs content.

This extensive indexing of the content is one of the key factors in the success of the SOPs product. The more pages that are indexd, the more targeted organic traffic will be able to find the website for specific key terms.

With over 40 thousand unique organic visitors every month from just one major search engine, there is no doubting the power of SOPs to drive an online business forward during the most comptetive times that online advertising has seen.

Toovey’s embrace Online PR

by Matt on Mar.11, 2009, under Digital PR, General, Google, Google PageRank, Link Building, Organic Traffic, SEO, Web Design, Web Development

After many hours of painstaking web development, design, and accessibility & useability testing Toovey’s have delivered what the Fine Art and Antique world has been waiting for.

Once again 2M Mediaworks has helped this very well established UK auctioneers create a master piece of their own.  Toovey’s has broken the mould of Antique buying over the internet.

Fine art auctioneers Toovey’s are to hold their third auction of contemporary art on 30th May 2009. Works will be displayed at either Horsham Museum (10th March until 9th May) or Worthing Museum and Art Gallery (14th March until 23rd May) before they are sold at Toovey’s Spring Gardens auction rooms at Washington.

For collectors and patrons the auction offers an exciting platform for the acquisition of art by established and emerging names in the contemporary art world. The sale includes over 140 works by 52 self-representing artists, including painters, sculptors, photographers, print-makers, ceramicists and glass-workers. The list of acclaimed and award-winning artists includes Chris Kettle, Simon Dixon, Jimmy Lawlor, Rolf Hook, Hannah Stewart and Vic Bamforth.

“The ethos of these sales has always been to promote the arts in Sussex by creating a new stage for artists to showcase their work,” says event organiser Nicholas Toovey FRSA. “We are delighted that both Horsham Museum and Worthing Museum and Art Gallery share this same outlook and have shown their support by hosting exhibitions of the entries prior to the auction. We hope that the sale will reciprocate this support by acting as a stimulus for people to visit each of the museums. Both feature stunning collections of local and national importance and are free to enter.”

With such a variety of works on offer, there is art to suit all budgets, tastes and interiors. Entries are potentially available at more affordable prices than they would be in a gallery, so this auction is a marvellous opportunity to purchase contemporary works of museum quality. Fully illustrated catalogues are available for £5 from the auction rooms and exhibition venues or for £6 by post from Toovey’s.
